Naxos 8.550843 For one week at the end of August since 1956, the small village of Edington in Wiltshire has played host to a remarkable Festival of Music within the Liturgy. During the course of the last twenty years, the Edington Festival Consort has gradually become more or less synonymous with the Oxford Camerata. This collection of Renaissance Masterpieces is a selection of some of the music which the Edington Festival Consort has broadcast since 1983 on BBC Radio 3 from Edington Priory Church. Grateful thanks are due to Festival Directors Geoffrey Webber (1984-86), David Trendell (1987-1991), and Andrew Carwood (1992-1997) since they had much to do with the choice and editorial preparation of the collection presented here.Details of the Edington Festival (which in 2004 will run from the evening of
Sunday 22 August until the morning of Sunday 29 August) should be requested from
the Festival Administrator
Peter
Roberts.
