A compilation album, but with a slight difference. Twelve of the tracks are available elsewhere in the Naxos catalogue performed by a selection of (mostly Eastern European) artists. However, the recording of the famous Miserere by Gregorio Allegri was made specially for this CD. It was recorded at the same time as the Camerata's Tallis CD, that's to say in the chapel of Wellington College, Berkshire. The 'high Cs' are sung by Alison Coldstream and Janet McMullin together, and (remarkably for this piece) there is only one edit point (Wellington College's proximity to Heathrow airport makes editing during long pieces almost inevitable).
